Description

The five major goals of the Sharia are the protection of sound religious practice, life, sanity, the family, and personal and communal wealth. The acknowledgement of sound local customs throughout the world is one of the five basic maxims of the Sharia according to all Islamic schools of law.

Objective

There are five Maqasid (objectives) of Shariah: Protection of life, protection of property, protection of health, protection of religion, and protection of dignity. These objectives are generally classified into three categories, general Maqasid, specific Maqasid, and partial Maqasid.

Outline

Sharia comprises three basic elements: Aqidah concerns all forms of faith and belief in Allah, held by a Muslim. Fiqh governs the relationship between man and his Creator (ibadat) and between man and man (muamalat). Political, economic, and social activities fall within the ambit of muamalat.
